The Suffolk Latch as the name suggests was originated in Suffolk, East Anglia. When fixed, the thumb piece passes through the door to raise the latch bar (or lifter) off the keep. Should you require a locking latch (a bathroom door for example) the locking staple pin (ANV-33244) will suit your requirement which must be ordered separately.

The "Githic" style latches really go nicely with the "Arrowhead" style "T" Hinges and are available as follows in a Beeswax finish:-
